A Year Ago Today.......

A year ago today I received the call that changed my life forever in the best way possible. I remember that day so clearly. My husband and I were at my parent’s house visiting my dad because he had just come home from the hospital after having a heart procedure done. I was standing in their dining room when my cell phone rang. I always had it on me in hopes that I would be getting a call any day about a possible adoption situation. My heart fluttered as I answered it and it was a coordinator from Lifetime. I grabbed my husband and we went outside on the patio. She excitedly told us we had been matched! The birth mom looked at some profile books and out of the 8 she had seen she only wanted us!! That was the day we found out about a 2 month old baby girl from Nevada. They explained that the birth mother wanted to move forward with the adoption very quickly and asked us if we were interested in talking to her. Of course we were! We were ecstatic! She emailed us the below pictures and our hearts just melted. We were IN LOVE!

  1. Congrats on the adoption. I am adopted myself and have had a wonderful life with wonderful parents. When my wife and I found out that we could not have children together I wanted to adopt at first because I wanted to share with a child the wonderful experience my parent gave me. We have changed our mind and are going the DI route instead.

Parents who adopt are special people the impact you have on making a child life a positive experience when it started out for the child as a high risk situation. In my situation my birth mother was a truck driver who had another child and raised him in a Semi-truck for the first three years of his life. Thank god my parents choose me and thank god you choose this child.

  2. Thanks Jeff for your comment. I really appreciate it. :) I am so happy we adopted our daughter Kayla. She is such a little miracle and fills our lives with such joy. I am also happy you had a great adoption experience. Best of luck to you and your wife with the IUI. I will be sending postive thoughts your way that it is a success. Do you think you and your wife will adopt later on?

  3. If the IUI doesn't work out we will move onto adoption. We will have to do it in the next two years a lot of the adoption agencies in Texas will not allow adoption when one of the parents are over 45. Hopefully the IUI will work out. we are in out 2ww Julie had 4 eggs so we are really hopeful this time.

  4. your story has prompted my husband and I to pursue Lifetime Adoptions. We have been doing fertility treatments for over three years now. It is heart breaking to do this knowing that adoption can bring so much joy. Thank you for your inspiration.

We were matched within 3 months of going active with them and I would do it again in a heartbeat. If you have any questions feel free to contact me any time here or at wwatson2@cox.net.
